LOS ANGELES AUTO SHOW
___________________________

The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the largest annual auto shows in the US, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Volkswagen made their presence known by honoring the brand's rich history and pointing the way to the future with several debuts including the Golf GTI Rabbit Edition, Beetle Final Edition, I.D. Buzz Cargo, and the I.D. R.

VW's Social Team was tasked to provide live-coverage of the Auto Show events on VW's social media channels. This involved photography and videography to be shot and edited with a same day turnaround in order to publish in real time during the Auto Show weekend. The goal was for VW’s content to stand apart from our competitors in both the physical and digital space. We wanted our audience to feel immersed in the VW Auto Show experience whether they are in the LA Convention Center, or experiencing the event from home on their mobile devices.

My role with LA Auto Show involved overseeing production of all events, including art direction for on-the-ground auto show photography and videography, final asset selection, curating VW's Instagram feed, copy writing assistance, designing VW's LA Auto Show logo, asset distribution management, and live publishing all content across VW's social media's channels for the duration of the Auto Show.

VW x LA Auto Show Lockup
__________________________
The LA Auto Show content published over the span of five days on VW's social channels. To differentiate LA Auto Show content from VW's daily editorial content, I created a logo mark that would be utilized in every video, Instagram Story, and Facebook gallery that involved LA Auto Show.

#BFFGOALS
____________
As the Volkswagen brand looked to the future, it was also important to honor the past with these two vehicle debuts:
the Beetle Final Edition — a true automotive icon, and the Golf GTI Rabbit Edition — a heritage inspired model. Both vehicles celebrate VW's rich history, making the Beetle and Rabbit true BFFs at LA Auto Show.

Volkswagen partnered with Race Service to produce a dedicated photoshoot that featured the Beetle and Golf GTI Rabbit as BFFs. This content was developed to build excitement before the LA Auto Show weekend so that VW's audience could get a glimpse on which vehicles to expect on the Auto Show floor. The two vehicles were captured at the Race Service's garage for an LA style photoshoot before they hit the road to LA convention center where they will be featured on the auto show floor. It was imperative to capture both vehicles in a location that emitted West Coast vibes with sunsets, palm trees, and a pastel color palette in order to create a sense of place within Los Angeles.

#BFFGoals was a fun social media focused shoot that resulted in imagery for VW's Instagram channels, including a 9 image take-over grid, and fun Instagram Stories.

BEETLES & BREAKFAST
______________________
As Volkswagen announced the end of production of the beloved Beetle, the brand hosted a "Beetles & Breakfast" event to kick off the LA Auto Show weekend. Beetles & Breakfast welcomed media and industry professionals from around the world attending AutoMobility LA. The commemorative showcase had nearly 30 Beetles on display, including the 2019 Beetle Final Edition models. LA Auto Show attendees were also be able to enjoy complimentary food and entertainment.
Volkswagen displayed a number of heritage Beetles dating as far back as 1946, as well as the Americas Rallycross-winning Beetle racecar. Los Angeles-based Beetle owners have also been invited to join the festivities. Additional vintage vehicles slated to participate in Beetles & Breakfast include, but are not limited to the 1949 Beetle, 1949 Hebmueller roadster, 1952 Karmann Cabriolet, 1964 Beetle, 1969 Beetle rally car, 1969 Wedding Car, 1971 Meyers Manx,  and the 1979 Super Beetle Convertible.
I.D. CARGO REVEAL
___________________
Volkswagen points the way to the future while honoring the brand’s rich history by debuting the I.D. BUZZ CARGO, a panel van version of the I.D. BUZZ. As the newest member of the I.D. Family—a new generation of fully-connected electric vehicles—I.D. BUZZ CARGO offers long range driving capability, multiple packaging options and innovative features.

As the concept’s name implies, the I.D. Buzz Cargo was designed to carry a payload of up to 1,760 pounds. With the battery built into the vehicle’s floor, the interior is designed for maximum storage space. Volkswagen  unveiled the I.D. Buzz Cargo at LA Auto Show and made for a newsworthy moment on social media.
I.D. R  SHOWCASE
_________________
The Volkswagen I.D. R, one of the world’s fastest electric race cars, was on display at LA Auto Show. The I.D. R made history recently at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb where it became the fastest car to complete the infamously treacherous race to the summit. Driving the 670 horsepower I.D. R Pikes Peak, driver Romain Dumas defeated all comers, including cars with conventional drivetrain technology. In doing so, he also broke the previous record for electric vehicles.

After an interview with Cedric Delanatte, the Project Manager of VW Motorsport in Germany, the VW Social Media Team dedicated an Instagram Story and video to celebrate the achievements of the I.D. R by detailing all of it's noteworthy accomplishments and record breaking numbers.
BEETLE MOVIE DRIVE-IN
_______________________
To wrap up the LA Auto Show weekend, VW hosted a Beetle Movie Drive-In where attendees could watch “Herbie Fully Loaded” while comfortably seated in a Beetle Turbo Final Edition Convertible in Hollywood, CA. Attendees enjoyed complimentary popcorn, candy, a photo booth, games, and drinks – along with a showcase that featured several vintage Beetles on display. VW also welcomed a special celebrity guest appearance from Vanessa Hudgens.

The VW Beetle Movie Drive-In was a special moment for Beetle fans to relive nostalgic moments, as they bid farewell to the iconic vehicle.
